St. Christopher is the patron saint of several occupations and
places. The most well known is St. Christopher patron saint of
travelers. The image of this saint crossing turbulent waters with
child Jesus upon his shoulders is the second most popular imagery
in the Catholic faith, exceeded only by the image of The Annunciation.
The display of this image in 14 ct gold or gold plating presents
very well. Medium priced 14ct gold charms are available that depict
the traditional image and the words "St. Christopher Protect
Us". Such charms are usually about 1 inch in height and contain
approximately 5 grams of gold.
Perhaps a person favors a more personal inscription on a 14k gold
St. Christopher charm. There is such a charm available without
special order. The charm has the inscription "Saint Christopher
Guide Me" rather than the protect us as described on the
charm above. The inscription is a matter of personal preference,
there is not a right or wrong involved here.
Pendants are worn on a chain around the neck, charms can be worn
with either a chain around the neck or a bracelet around the wrist.
There is a stunning St. Christopher gold pendant that will absolutely
draw favorable notice. The pendant is 14 carat yellow gold with
scallop edge. This one has a very distinct look, will complement
most attire and is appropriate for a woman or a man. A sure fire
hit on this one!!
What about St. Christopher gift giving on the occasion of a Roman
Catholic Sacramental, especially First Communion and Confirmation?
Moderately priced medals in gold appropriate for a youngster are
very hard if not impossible to find. A wiser course of action
would be to select a nice St. Christopher silver medal that can
be inscribed on the reverse side. There is a wide variety of attractive
medals available that will make a treasured remembrance of that
special day.
Confirmation gifting for a teenager calls for a totally different
approach. There are white gold Saint Christopher medals that are
considerably more costly than the silver medals, and at the high
end can be several hundred dollars. The gold on the high medals
is more detailed and a much more striking piece. Teens that take
their faith and their Confirmation seriously very much favor a
certain message inscribed by the manufacturer on the reverse side
of the gold medal. The long standing, traditional message reads:
I AM A CATHOLIC IN CASE OF ACCIDENT PLEASE CALL A PRIEST.
