Roman Catholics venerate humans as saints in heaven with access
to both God Almighty and to Jesus. The veneration is never to
a saint rather than to God. The prayer petitions are always thanks
for prior help and requests for intercession with prayer directly
to Almighty God

Consider a St. Christopher medal. He is known world wide
as the patron saint of travelers, and several lesser known patronages.
The most common St. Christopher medal depicts him crossing
turbulent water with childJesus on his shoulders and a staff in
his hand. Commonly, the words St. Christopher or Saint Christopher
are along the outer perimeter above the heads, and the words protect
us along the lower perimeter. These are generally either round
or elongated, and the lettering is on scale with the overall appearance
of the medal.
These medals make a perfect gift for someone about to set out
on a long journey; plane, train or auto. These traditional medals
make a great gift at First Holy Communion and at Confirmation.
St. Christopher's medal is a wonderful Christmas gift or a
birthday gift, or gifting to a person with a special devotion
to St. Christopher.
Catholics favor this medal and this image on the front, and a
specific message on the reverse. This Saint Christopher medal
carries the inscription: I AM A CATHOLIC IN CASE OF ACCIDENT PLEASE
CALL A PRIEST.
St. Christopher of legend was a big, strong man sometimes even
described as a giant. What better saint and what would be more
natural than to name such a man as a patron saint of many physical
endeavors. Would you like to recognize someone for their current
or past service in the U. S. military? There is a Saint Christopher
medal for Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard, Coast
Guard, and even a separate medal for paratroopers. These make
a perfect gift marking positive achievement or promotion at any
rank, from completion of trainee duty through much decorated commissioned
officer.
Motorcyclists also look to St. Christopher for protection and
safe passage on the highway. There is a specific medal with a
motorcycle on the lower half, a cross on the upper right while
the upper left has an image of St. Christopher bearing child Jesus
on his shoulders. Imprinted around the top perimeter is St. Christopher
and around the bottom perimeter Ride With Me.
